Enviro Coat Reflective® 1545 is a premium exterior 100% acrylic eggshell paint system engineered to reflect the sun’s heat away from exterior walls. ECR 1545 is another Earth First® paint line from Kelly-Moore Paints.

The traditional formulas for lighter off-white colors reflect heat away from the walls already. But, any medium or darker colors used on the majority of buildings today have a tendency to absorb IR heat, actually making the walls hotter than the outside temperature.  This eco-functional paint formulation actually deflects a portion of the near-infrared (IR) radiant heat from the sun’s rays away from the wall, reducing surface temperatures generated by exposure to direct sunlight.  The percentage of heat reduction depends upon a few factors including the color selected, the wall surface materials and exposure.  With the anticipated lowering of the external wall temperature, the heat transfer is reduced to the inner wall and interior air space.  The potential benefit of this IR reflectant wall coating is primarily reducing the air-conditioning cycles needed in warmer climates and on hot days.

The heat reflective technology has typically been used in the roof coating industry, and in fact the same rating system from the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC) is used to measure the effectiveness of colors for vertical walls.  Enviro Coat Reflective paint is specifically manufactured with advanced factory-formulated pigments in six attractive ready-mixed colors, appropriate for today’s exterior color designs for residential and commercial buildings.
