Selling paint is simple business and so is our International Distributor program - keeping it easy to understand and easy for you to make money.

Paint Products

We manufacture several levels of paints used for different channels, such as the repaint market, new residential housing, new commercial structures, industrial applications, floors, environmentally friendly products, etc. within the global paint business.

Premium Level Product Families

Kelly-Moore premium products are typically manufactured with 100% Acrylic formulations in a variety of sheens for interior and exterior applications. These paints are our best performing products and although we cannot tell you exactly how long they last, some projects in California were painted 20 years ago and still look great. These paint formulas are made with only the finest ingredients and most advanced technologies and are specified by architects throughout the Western US. We sell paints in full families of products with coordinated primers and sealers.


"Earth First" Paint Product Families

Kelly-Moore offers many lines of paint that are environmentally responsible, as this market demand continues to grow, and appears to be here-to-stay. The paints leading the way in the green movement start with the Kelly-Moore Enviro Coat family of products and Green Coat line, high-performing Zero-VOC paints. Kelly-Moore's eCoat Recycled Paints are a very high-quality recycled product alternative and can be very cost-effective while meeting the required-recycled regulations that you may face.

With these products and more, Kelly-Moore puts our "Earth First", without sacrificing performance demanded by the professional painting contractor or discriminating buyer.


Professional Level Product Families

Professional or commercial paints apply with ease and perform very well over time. These paint lines are designed for US architectural paint specifications and applied by most professional painters in our distribution areas. Professional trades business is 88% of our sales volume at Kelly-Moore, so we must manufacture these paint products to perform during and after application. Most are acrylic & hybrid-acrylic resin formulations and can be tinted to most any color.


Production Level Paint Products

Production Products are primarily sold to specific market segments, such as new residential housing in the Western US (new homes) or apartments for repainting. These paints come in fewer sheens and specific colors, usually off-whites. These paints are usually purchased in 5-gallon pails, due of the volume requirements of these project types and color-controls necessary for these markets, but can also be tinted to most any color. These production paints are made in very large batches in the factories and are used for painting projects that require controlled pricing and controlled color management.

Specialty Paints

Kelly-Moore manufactures or distributes more sophisticated industrial coatings for bridges and tanks, steel and cement surfaces and structures. Also in this category of products are the elastomeric coatings, traffic and field marking striping paints, and KMP labeled lacquers, stains and varnishes, and a wide variety of specialty primers.

Sundry Products

Any sundry product that is inventoried in our Kelly-Moore warehouses is available for export sales in case-lot quantities, and your sales person will be able to inform you of these exact quantities, as they may vary from one product to the next. We sell many related products in Kelly-Moore private-label packaging - your salesman can help you with the details, but brushes, roller covers, caulking and patching products, hand tools, masking papers, respirators and even spray pumps and many more items are all available with the Kelly-Moore brand.

For larger orders, full pallets will be filled in the distribution area and these pallet quantities will vary by product and mix. For smaller orders, many times, we are able to top-load the cases over the paint without exceeding the weight limits fro shipping. We will inform you of these possibilities when an order is placed, and at the time of loading.

 

Color Concerns

Some KMP paint lines are available with factory made ready-mixed colors for convenience, and your sales person can review these with you. Ready mixed colors do not need to be tinted, but you will need to know the colors that are required in your market. Our paints are offered in 4-tint bases for the in-store tinting of custom colors. We will provide a formula book for all K-M colors and would prefer that you use the K-M colorants to best achieve matching. We sell colorants as a sundry item, by the quart and gallon. We can provide you with tinting and shaker equipment at our landed costs (most major brands), from the most sophisticated computerized tint machines to a small single gallon shaker - you pay what we would pay.

We offer a variety of ready-mixed colors, but most products will need to be tinted at your location for best customer service and project requirements. Paints are manufactured in tint-able bases, so darker colors will require a deeper "base" to be sure the color can be achieved.

We will supply you with the formula books for the all KMP Color Xperience Color system colors, and more. You will be able to purchase tinting and mixing equipment at the Kelly-Moore landed price from a variety of equipment suppliers. You will pay, what we pay for this equipment. Or, we can also connect you directly with these manufacturers for direct purchases and shipments. You will need to know your power supply needs to order this equipment. Generally, this equipment will take a complete pallet per piece when shipping in the original cartons.

 

Ocean/Freight Shipping

The most efficient shipping option is a full container.

  1. 20 ft. container holds 10 pallets.

  2. 40 ft. container holds 20 pallets.

You are responsible for all freight fees, and the quoted rates will be included on the invoice, or you may pay the freight forwarding company directly. One pallet holds 180 gallons in total, either 1 gallon (US) cans (180) or 5 gallon pails (36). So, it is always best to place your order in 180 gallons increments to assure full pallets and the best cost savings for freight fees. Pallets are plastic wrapped and we install rubberized air bladders between the pallets in the container for added support to the load.

You will need to supply your destination country's Port of Entry to receive several shipping quotes, and we will forward these quotes to you for review. We will ship from the Port of Oakland, CA, USA, and regularly use freight forwarding companies that provide very good service and communications regarding ship schedules and estimated arrival times.

If you would prefer to use a freight-forwarding company of your choosing, this is fine with the Kelly-Moore Shipping Department; contact information will be needed for pick-up times to be scheduled at the KMP shipping dock.

You are responsible for any Port of Entry fees/tariffs/taxes that may be applied.

 

Terms of Sale

Your formal distribution agreement with Kelly-Moore paints will include parameters to earn a protected market for your business. Kelly-Moore will not solicit further distribution within this market, so long as sales goals are accomplished. Terms of sale for Kelly-Moore exported paint orders is payment by wire-transfer for the invoice amount prior to shipment. Credit Card transactions are not accepted for these sales. Wire-Transfer bank information will be supplied to you to forward to your bank, when the order is ready to ship. Once bank transfers are received, the KM Accounting Department will inform the Shipping Department to release the container going to the Port of Oakland. Other payment arrangements can be made individually.
